When I started out with this blog one of my chief goals was to explain some of the key positons we have in our development teams all over the world. One of the most important is the Software Development Engineer. I also set out trying to highlight the amazing diversity we have in our company. So in line with those objectives here is one of our Israeli engineers telling you a little bit about our development efforts in Israel, the type of work he does and the repsonsibilities he has. Israel is expanding quickly and hiring large numbers of technical staff

I recently paid a visit to Israel and had a chance to meet some of our teams in our Haifa and Herzeliya development centres.

At present we have 6 teams in Israel:

The Telecoms Team
The Security Analysis Services Team
The Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Team
The Internet Seurity and Acceleration (ISA) Sustained Engineering Team
The Intellignent Application Gateway (IAG) Team and the
Security Branch Server (Forefront) Team

Israel is one of the only places outside of Redmond where Microsoft has full lifecycle product development in place supported by a large number of General Managers on the ground. It is a very impressive gathering of very talented minds working on a variety of very interesting product developments in particular in the security and telecom industry.

The team recently one the go ahead for some significant expansion which involves hiring over 100 people in a wide range of roles. For example

Program Managers (Junior and Senior)
Software Development Engineers (Junior and Senior)
Feature PMs for Enterprise Security Products (Junior and Senior)
Simulators and Tools Development Team Leaders
Networking Developers
Reporting/Visualisation sub system programmers
